In 2009 Mohd. Aazam enrolled himself in the B.Sc. Nursing course at Lingayas University, Faridabad. While he was in college’s 2nd year, his family faced extreme financial crunch, the situation was such that he would have to drop out. So, in December 2011 he contacted Shiksha Prayas. Upon learning about his desire to study and his family’s ongoing financial crisis, Shiksha Prayas decided to help him pay his college fees.
Thereafter, he did M.Sc. Clinical Psychology from Gurugram University. In between for one year he worked as a Community Health Officer in Haryana Govt. Next, he started a consultancy firm in Gurugram, it has been a successful venture.

“The help extended by Shiksha Prayas helped me sail through the financial crisis of 1 to 1.5 years. My family considers Pawan Kamra Ji a farishta. Back then, had he not helped me I wouldn’t have been able to complete my studies.
The selfless help that Shiksha Prayas extends is what inspires me to help others. I believe if someone helps us unknowingly, we should always remember that instance and help others too.”

Inspired to Help
A young girl from the city of Alwar who achieved success through sheer determination and grit, Ritika is one of the brightest students Free Tuition Centre (FTC) in Kanhai has ever had. Since the past 15 years Ritika lives in Kanhai with her parents and her three siblings whom she loves dearly. This is her story!
The eldest daughter of Kailash and Laxmi, Ritika was suggested by one of the teachers at FTC to join the Free Tuition Centre. Back then in 2007, her parents were not much financially stable. Upon learning about Shiksha Prayas’ Free tuition Centre initiative her parents were delighted to have found an opportunity to help their bright daughter complete her education. Looking at Ritika’s enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge, her teachers focused more on her. Till class 8th she took tuitions at FTC Kanhai. Thereafter, under the Student Sponsorship initiative Ritika received sponsorship twice. She scored well in her class 12th board exams in the science stream and completed her education from the Government Senior Secondary School, Kanhai. Since then she has been teaching mathematics to the students of classes 6 to 8 at FTC Kanhai. Ritika recently completed her B.Sc. Zoology Honours degree from Delhi University. Currently she is pursuing B.Ed. and is also working as a science teacher with an NGO. She is also an expert in dance. In future, Ritika wants to become a professor.
Ritika has shown that sometimes all you need is that little support, guidance and opportunity.
She says, “Whatever I’m today is because of my parents’ support and Shiksha Prayas. The guidance and motivation that I got from Pawan Sir is what has helped me reach where I’m today, I’m grateful to him. Now I want to contribute my bit to the society, lend a helping hand to others and be a part of their success story.”

Hardwork & Willpower- The Keys to Success
There has never been a dearth of inspirational stories in India. Out of these, there have been stories like that of Khushiram.
“I belong to Siwan village in the Kaithal district of Haryana. Back then in 2008 and even today my parents are labourers, they work in farms. We didn’t have our own house to live in, we lived on the farm itself. My siblings and I would help them whenever we had time. My parents are not very educated, my father has completed elementary education while my mother is completely illiterate. My parents were highly supportive of getting me educated, for them education was very important. They used to say don’t work just focus on your studies, we’ll support you financially as much as we can. Without my family’s support and Shiksha Prayas I wouldn’t have been able to complete my studies. To me Shiksha Prayas is my parivar.
I still remember the day Virendra sir came to our school to tell us about Shiksha Prayas. I had always been interested in studies; I saw this as a good opportunity for me. Shiksha Prayas offered good education quality free of cost at Free Tuition Centre (FTC). I completed my schooling from the Government School. In 10th board exams I scored 100 marks in math, if Shiksha Prayas hadn’t supported me then maybe I would have got average marks. I studied dedicatedly and in turn got full support from FTC. I received timely guidance and support from Virendra sir and his wife. I got scholarships from Shiksha Prayas for 11th and 12th tuition classes, for JBT from Government College and for competitive exams’ coaching classes. Through rigorous hard work I have cleared many exams like the ones for Haryana Police, Railways and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. Since 2019 I’ve been working in Govt. College for Girls, Cheeka. Simultaneously, I’m also completing my graduation.
The role of a teacher inspires me. I enjoy teaching kids. While teaching kids I focus on their concept clarity. From 2015 to 2019 I taught at FTC. Now, after work hours I give tuition to students at my home. I feel so proud to see my students get good academic results; qualify the National Talent Search Examination; get selected in the Super 100 and receive scholarships. When I see my students have achieved something in life, I feel blessed to have been a part of their journey.
My only message to everyone is nothing is impossible in life. Despite all the struggles and hardships, I have succeeded in life, if I can, so can you.”
Today we share with you the experience of Ram Singh, a young 25-year-old boy from the beautiful land of Himalayas, Nepal. In October 2009 Ram Singh joined the Free Tuition Centre Kanhai when he was a class 4th student. He studied there till class 8th. Being one of the most promising students of the FTC, Ram Singh received sponsorship till class 10th. He completed schooling till class 10th from the Government Senior Secondary School, Kanhai. Thereafter he completed his schooling from the National Institute of Open Schooling. Although Shiksha Prayas offered to pay his school fees, Ram Singh refused any monetary support from Shiksha Prayas. He says, “I used to work at various schools, so I thought I was self-sufficient enough to manage my own education expenses. Further, I thought that the scholarship amount that I would receive would be of much help to some other student.
Shiksha Prayas, I would say, is a whole different world. They provide good exposure to all students belonging to rural areas. From Shiksha Prayas we get not just financial help but emotional support too. At Shiksha Prayas, the overall development of a student is focused upon. All mentors at Shiksha Prayas are so good, they give good and timely guidance to all of us.
I have observed that students usually hesitate to speak in English but at FTC all the mentors motivate and encourage us so much that eventually everyone loses their inhibitions. Today even I can confidently speak in English. Shiksha Prayas provides people like us an opportunity to fulfil our dreams.”
Ram Singh recently completed B.Com. from the Indira Gandhi National Open University.
